Genuine Earcons
Videoproduction with 2 Ensembles
What is real music production anymore? The short film *Genuine Earcons* is an experiment exploring the dissolution of the ability to perceive qualitative sound due to the ubiquity of earcons—in the broadest sense, sounds that function as stimulants for attention. Through editing and montage, the genuine musical production of two ensembles—one with many years of professional experience and one assembled specifically for this production—is obscured to such an extent that even the revelation of the entire process at the Transmediale studio does not reveal a clear intention. Here, the music created in the moment serves as the actual foundation that brings tension to the camera’s movement and underlies the approach to the entire production.
